A good ride, even though we were only four. The weather was windy but stayed dry for most of the time.
The following video had music on but was blocked in many countries so the music has been stripped out.

The second ride was smaller than the first, with 9 participants, but we had a good time again, with a few of us ending up in the Northern Monkey brewery tap for a quick drink.
Publicised street closures in preparation for the IronMan event placed constraints on our route, but it was a good ride taking in the subway under St Peter’s Way at the end of St George’s Street, and a section of the East Bolton Cycleway whilst we still have the daylight. It was disappointing that we still couldn’t use the Newport Street cycleway, but we did a circuit of the cyclops junction – though it took a while to get everyone round it.
The very first Bolton Critical Mass ride on the 27th of August 2021. The ride coincided with the first day of the Bolton Food Festival.
We had 13 riders, which is not a huge number but is a good start for the first ride. With a number of experienced riders present, this is certainly enough to allow people newer to cycling on the roads to feel safer (a “critical mass”).
This is the route that was taken, which took almost exactly one hour to complete at a leisurely pace.
